Duties

Develop and teach introductory and advanced courses in Organic Farming, Sustainable Agriculture, and other related courses. The person in this position must be able to teach other crop production courses such as Fruit Crops, Plant Propagation, Floriculture, Vegetable Crops, Introduction to Plant Sciences, and related subjects as needed.
Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate student research.
Provide academic advising to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Attract research grants funded by national and international sources.
Undertake active research roles in the field of expertise.
Maintain a close working relationship with peers in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources including collaboration on research, outreach/workshops, and on-farm research when it is mutually beneficial.
Publication in ISI-indexed peer-reviewed journals
Carry out community services including active participation in departmental, college, and university-wide committees, activities, and outreach.
Keeping abreast of recent developments in the academic field to enhance teaching and research activities within the department.
Implementing the security and safety requirements established by the university to provide a suitable working environment within the department.
Contributing to community service by participating in seminars and workshops and preparing studies and research related to community issues.

Requirements

Specific conditions for teaching faculty positions:

A Ph.D. in Crop Science/Plant Production Science, or a related field with a focus on applied research in organic and sustainable agriculture.
In-depth subject knowledge/expertise in the field of expertise, including organic farming
Preference will be given to those with experience in teaching relevant courses including lectures, labs, and field production methods.
Demonstrable ability to communicate complex oral and written information clearly in English.
A track record of securing funding and successful completion of projects.
Must have a track record of publications in leading peer-reviewed journals in the field of expertise, especially in the last 5 years.

General conditions for teaching faculty positions:

1. The applicant must be of good conduct and behavior.

2. To have the following qualifications for appointment:

- It must be issued on a regular basis, and not be in the system of affiliation, distance education, or blended education.

- It must be equivalent by the competent authority in the Sultanate if it is issued by a non-Omani higher education institution (Only for Omani).

3. Proficiency in using information technology effectively.

4. Priority is given to those who have experience in university teaching and scientific research.

5. Apply for only one position in each College.
