Duties

1. TEACHING & STUDENTS SUPERVISION:

To develop or teach any of the following assigned undergraduate courses: Introduction to Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Engineering Design, Irrigation Principles and Design, Instrumentation and Control Systems, Post Harvest Technologies, Land Survey, Or any other courses in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the Department, as well as College service courses.
To Supervise BSc. Research projects and M.Sc. and Ph.D. Theses
To disseminate and to equip the undergraduate/graduate students with hands-on and field skills, advanced technologies competences, advanced software skills, among others in areas relevant to Agricultural Engineering.

2. RESEARCH:

To conduct excellent research and to develop a successful research program with the state-of-the-art methods and instrumentation in the field of agricultural engineering and the associated technologies.
To develop and engage in research teams in the department/university, and with international groups. The candidate is expected to work as part of an interdisciplinary research team and to conduct joint research nationally and internationally.
To participate in international peer-viewed research publications and leading roles in research grants.

3. TRAINING AND COMMUNITY SERVICES:

To provide services in assigned committees relevant to the Department, College, and/or University levels
To conduct outreach activities and to engage in community services such as conducting workshops, technical training, public presentations, etc.

Requirements

The candidate must have at least MSc degree in Agricultural Engineering or similar engineering disciplines from a reputed University in accordance to conditions set by SQU in this regard
A cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 or above at BSc and MSc levels is a must.
Proficiency in spoken and written English and meeting the minimum English language requirement according to the following: (6) In the IELTS exam or its equivalent in the TOEFL exam.
Research and evidence of teaching assistant experience is required.
Demonstration of fieldwork and advance computing and software skills (Related to as precision agriculture, irrigation systems, post-harvest technology, instrumentation and control system, or relevant topics).
The candidate should have a strong commitment for teaching excellence and student advising.
The candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with team work spirits. Experience on teaching using e-learning and online teaching platforms (e.g. GoogleMeet, Moodle, Zoom) will be considered as an added qualification.

General conditions for teaching faculty positions:

1. The applicant must be of good conduct and behavior.

2. To have the following qualifications for appointment:

- It must be issued on a regular basis, and not be in the system of affiliation, distance education, or blended education.

- It must be equivalent by the competent authority in the Sultanate if it is issued by a non-Omani higher education institution (Only for Omani).

3. Proficiency in using information technology effectively.

4. Priority is given to those who have experience in university teaching and scientific research.
