Duties
The prospective faculty member will be assigned teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervening final year senior projects, providing academic advising to students, initiating and cooperating in research in the field of expertise and participating actively in the different committees in the Department, College, and University
Requirements
The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University seeks candidates whose research interests include applied mechanics with special focus on computational mechanics modeling of material behavior, and mechanical design including design and analysis of machine components. A strong fundamental background in 'Mechanics of Materials' and 'Materials Science' is a must.
Targeted Candidates should at least satisfy the followings:
- Must have earned a Ph.D by the date of appointment in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university..
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Record of or potential for strong scholarly achievements in relevant field.
- A commitment to teaching excellence and an ongoing, externally funded research program.
- Willingness to teach core undergraduate and graduate courses and offering electives in the particular area of specialty.
- Active in research in the area of specialty and the ability to attract funds and work in collaborative research teams.
- Willingness and preferably experience in participating in the administrative academic duties.
- Preferably, having experience with accreditation tasks and particularly ABET accreditation.
