The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University seeks candidates whose research interests include dynamical systems and controls including robotics, autonomous systems, AI/machine learning and its applications in dynamic mechanical systems, advanced mechatronic systems. Candidates who transcend the traditional boundaries of Mechanical Engineering to bring into the research effort insights from Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering or related disciplines are especially encouraged to apply.

Targeted Candidates should at least satisfy the followings:

• Must have earned a Ph.D by the date of appointment in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.. 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Record of or potential for strong scholarly achievements in relevant field.
• A commitment to teaching excellence and an ongoing, externally funded research program.
• Willingness to teach core undergraduate and graduate courses and offering electives in the particular area of specialty.
• Active in research in the area of specialty and the ability to attract funds and work in collaborative research teams.
• Willingness and preferably experience in participating in the administrative academic duties.
• Preferably, having experience with accreditation tasks and particularly ABET accreditation.
