Duties

The Department of Animal & Veterinary Sciences invites applications for the rank of:

Assistant Professor (Clinical Veterinarian in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery)

to perform the following duties: 

  • Teach both undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary students. 
  • The candidate will also be expected to be significantly involved in the clinical care of small animals.  
  • Develop an area of independent or collaborative interdisciplinary research in his/her area of interest by obtaining and managing internal and external research funds.
  • Provide clinical expertise in small animal medicine and surgery. Experience in laboratory and/or wild animal medicine & surgery would be an added benefit.
  • Supervising BSc. graduation projects and MSc theses. 
  • Expected to start in Spring 2024.

Requirements

  1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, from an internationally recognized program of veterinary medicine.
  2. A Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery that is relevant to small animals from a reputable university.
  3. Solid research and publication record in leading peer-reviewed journals. 
  4. Demonstrate significant evidence of expertise in teaching and clinical practice.
  5. Demonstrable evidence of both diagnostic and research-based scholarly achievements in small animal clinical medicine and surgery.
  6. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in a variety of allied disciplines of veterinary medicine.
  7. The candidate must be fluent in English.
  8. Applicants are evaluated based on their educational background, area of specialization, and experience in teaching, research, and community service.
