1) Keeping abreast of recent developments in the academic field to enhance teaching and research activities within the department.
2) Implementing the security and safety requirements established by the university to provide a suitable working environment within the department.
3) Teaching in the field of specialization.
4) Providing academic guidance to students and providing them with information related to the specialization.
5) Participating in department and college council meetings and engaging in the activities of internal and external committees as requested.
6) Contributing to scientific research, providing scientific consultations, and attending conferences and scientific seminars in the field of specialization following the established rules.
7) Contributing to quality assurance activities in academic aspects in accordance with assigned tasks.
8) Contributing to community service by participating in seminars and workshops and preparing studies and research related to community issues.
9) Any other tasks assigned in the field of work.
- PhD in Translation Studies (English/Arabic) from a recognized university
- Specialization: Translation Technology /Interpreting Studies
- PhD study program should be full-time. Part-time, online, or blended study programs are not accepted
- Relevant teaching experience
- Good record of published research in peer-reviewed journals
- Excellent skills in using technology in teaching
- Fluency in both English and Arabic (oral and written)
In case the applicant is Omani, the applicant must satisfy the following conditions:
- Applicant must have a master’s degree in the field of Translation (English/Arabic)
- Applicant must have a PhD in Translation Studies (English/Arabic).
- Specialization: Translation Technology/Interpreting.
- Degree must be:
- Full-time, not online, not blended education.
- From a higher education institution whose classification is no less than that of Sultan Qaboos University, or be among the best three higher education institutions in the Sultanate based on the (QS), (THE), or (Shanghai) university ranking in the year of graduation.
- Approved by the competent authority in the Sultanate if it is issued by a non-Omani higher education institution.
5. Applicant must have relevant teaching experience at a recognized university after the PhD.
6. Applicant must have a good research record of papers published in peer-reviewed journals.
7. Applicant must have excellent skills in using technology in teaching
8. Applicant must submit a minimum score of (7.5) in the IELTS exam, or its equivalent in the TOEFL exam.
9. Applicant must not exceed (50) years, at the time of this job announcement.
