Duties
The Earth Sciences Research Center at Sultan Qaboos University is a young, vibrant and growing research center located in the heart of the ophiolite region of the Sultanate of Oman in the Middle East. We are currently looking for research staff of candidates with PhDs in Solid Petrology/Exploration Geochemistry. Suitable candidates for this position should have a PhD, a good track record of international publications, and some industry experience. The position will require excellent research experience, research grant applications, and publications in international journals. The position will provide an excellent opportunity to conduct independent and collaborative research with local industry. The appointment will be at the researcher level. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2024.

Organize, oversee, and conduct research proposals and applications to internal and external grants.
- Conduct sound scientific research of international standards.
- Acquire research funding and grants.
- Provide services to the University and community.
- Foster liaison with the industry and establish robust partnerships.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Hard rock petrology/geochemistry/mineralogy or a closely related field from a recognized University.
- Proven expertise in research development and a commitment to excellence in research.
- A strong record of research publications.
- Successful track record in securing grants; international awards are considered a significant advantage.
- Preferred candidates will possess substantial experience in ophiolite studies, industrial experience and established relations within the field.
- Priority will be given to young, motivated candidates eager to contribute to the dynamic environment of our institution.
