Duties
1) Keeping abreast of recent developments in the academic field to enhance teaching and research activities within the department.
2) Implementing the security and safety requirements established by the university to provide a suitable working environment within the department.
3) Teaching in the field of specialization.
4) Providing academic guidance to students and providing them with information related to the specialization.
5) Participating in department and college council meetings and engaging in the activities of internal and external committees as requested.
6) Contributing to scientific research, providing scientific consultations, and attending conferences and scientific seminars in the field of specialization following the established rules.
7) Contributing to quality assurance activities in academic aspects in accordance with assigned tasks.
8) Contributing to community service by participating in seminars and workshops and preparing studies and research related to community issues.
9) Any other tasks assigned in the field of work.
Requirements
General Conditions for Faculty Positions:
- The applicant must be Omani by nationality.
- The applicant must have good conduct and behavior.
- The required qualification for appointment must meet the following criteria:
- It must be obtained through full-time study, not through distance learning, part-time, or blended learning.
- It must be equivalent to those issued by Omani institutions if obtained from non-Omani higher education institutions, as recognized by the competent authority in the Sultanate.
- Applicants can apply for only one position in each college. (Note: Those who apply for more than one vacancy will be excluded at the initial sorting stage)
- When sorting applications, the terms, conditions, and procedures stated in the Executive Regulation of the Sultan Qaboos University Law and the Appointment Regulations for Omanis in academic positions at Sultan Qaboos University will be applied.
Position Conditions of Demonstrator for Omanis:
- Must have obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics (Education) with a cumulative GPA of not less than 3 out of 4 points or its equivalent, or a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.75 provided that the GPA is not less than 3.3 in the last 60 credit hours in the specialization or its equivalent. The qualification must be issued by a higher education institution ranked within the top 50% of higher education institutions based on the QS, THE, or Shanghai university rankings in the year of graduation.
- Must be proficient in English, both spoken and written, and meet the minimum English language requirement as follows: A score of 6 in IELTS or its equivalent in the TOEFL exam.
- Must be a graduate of the academic year in which the announcement is made or the two preceding years.
- The age of the applicant for the demonstrator position should not exceed (26) years at the time of the announcement.
