Duties

1. TEACHING & STUDENTS SUPERVISION:

  • To develop or teach any of the following assigned undergraduate and postgraduate courses: Introduction to Agricultural Engineering, Engineering Workshop Practice, Engineering Design Projects, Irrigation Principles, Irrigation Systems Design and Management, Modelling and Analysis of Bio-physical Systems, Controlled Environment Agriculture, Precision Agriculture or any other courses in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the Department, as well as College service courses. Should be capable to develop new course modules related to upgrading of curriculum.
  • To Supervise or serve in the committees of BSc. Research projects and M.Sc. and Ph.D. Theses.
  • To disseminate and to equip the undergraduate/graduate students with hands-on and field skills, advanced technological competencies, advanced software and AI skills in areas relevant to the job. 

 

2. RESEARCH:

  • To conduct excellent research and to develop a successful research project with the state-of-the-art methods and instrumentation in the field of engineering and technologies.
  • To develop and engage in research teams in the department, college, university, or with international peers. The candidate is expected to work as part of interdisciplinary research teams and to conduct joint research nationally and internationally.
  • To participate in international peer-viewed research publications and leading roles in research collaborations.

 

3. SERVICES & COMMUNITY OUTREACH:

  • To provide services in assigned committees relevant to the Department, College, and/or University levels.
  • To conduct outreach activities and to engage in community services such as conducting workshops, technical training, public presentations, etc.

 

 

Requirements

  • The candidate must have an earned Ph.D degree in Agricultural Engineering, Biosystems Engineering or similar discipline from a reputed University.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 or above at BSc and MSc levels is a must.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and meeting the minimum English language requirement according to the following: (6.5) In the IELTS exam or its equivalent in the TOEFL exam (Applied to Omani ONLY).
  • Evidences of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and research experience is preferred.
  • Demonstration of advance computing and software skills, AI related skills in Digital Agriculture (Related to Agricultural Engineering Teaching and Research).
  • The candidate should have a strong commitment for teaching excellence and student advising both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Awareness of accreditation requirements (ABET or similar) on innovative and outcome-based teaching methods will be an added qualification.
  • The candidate must have a documented research record (certified by SCOPUS, WOS, Google Scholar, ResearchGate data) through publications in high-calibre refereed journals.
  •  Applicants should have a minimum of FIVE (5) research publications in reputed journals included in Scopus/SCI index as a lead (first/corresponding) author in the last 5 years in research fields relevant to Agricultural/Biosystems Engineering.
  • The candidate must demonstrate excellent research capabilities that will enable him to develop successful research projects with the state-of-the-art technologies on data acquisition and analysis in the related research.
  • The candidate must have records of accomplishment in developing, securing and managing funded research projects.
  • The candidate must exhibit abilities to develop and maintain contacts and networking with relevant partners in the work field.
  • Holding positions and memberships in professional bodies, serving in editorial boards will be considered as an added qualification.
  • The candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with teamwork spirits. Experience on teaching using e-learning and online teaching platforms (e.g. GoogleMeet, Moodle, Zoom) will be considered as an added qualification.
  • The H-Index for applicants will be one important criterion.

General conditions for teaching faculty positions:

1. The applicant must be of good conduct and behavior.

2. To have the following qualifications for appointment:

- It must be issued on a regular basis, and not be in the system of affiliation, distance education, or blended education.

- It must be equivalent by the competent authority in the Sultanate if it is issued by a non-Omani higher education institution (Only for Omani).

3. Proficiency in using information technology effectively.

4. Priority is given to those who have experience in university teaching and scientific research.
